What My Certification Means for You
Hypnotherapy is not a regulated profession in the UK, which means that the title can technically be used by anyone. This makes it especially important for practitioners to hold recognised qualifications and submit to professional oversight. Neil's practitioner-level certification represents a substantial training commitment — not a weekend course — covering the theory and practice of hypnotherapy, the psychology of change, supervised client hours, and professional ethics.
The training rigor matters because effective, safe hypnotherapy requires genuine skill. It is not simply a matter of reading a script. A qualified practitioner understands how to structure sessions appropriately for different presentations, how to recognise when hypnotherapy is not the right intervention, how to manage difficult emotional material that may arise, and how to ensure that each client's experience is safe, purposeful, and beneficial.
Neil's certification is complemented by professional membership of a recognised association that holds members to a formal code of ethics, requires ongoing CPD, and provides a route for clients to raise concerns if needed. This accountability structure is part of what distinguishes a professional practitioner from an untrained individual offering the same service.
